500-Cr Hits Producer: No OTT Buyers for Next Films

Dinesh Vijan is aiming to create new records after the success of Chhaava with a few more films this year. While Bhool Chuk Maaf was supposed to arrive in theatres this month, it opted to get a release on OTT.

However, three more films are yet to arrive on the big screen and they are expected to face more delay considering that there has been a disagreement in terms of OTT acquisition deals. Notably, the films that are ready for release include Pooja Meri Jaan, Rumi Ki Sharafat, and Sarvagunn Sampanna.

An insider claimed that the films have been ready for over a year and that Dinesh Vijan is seeking for a certain amount for all three, which is being considered too expensive by the OTT platforms.

The source also added that Maddock Films is still waiting to finalize a deal with the OTT platforms since the acquisition budgets are not the same like they used to be before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The insider stated that Dinesh is seeking a high price since he wants to sell them at a price that can do justice to their respective themes.

The three films focus on different topics, with Pooja Meri Jaan aiming to create awareness on stalking. The other two fall in the category of mid-budget cinema, with Rumi Ki Sharafat being a social comedy.

With Bollywood falling short of content, it seems like only Maddock Films can come to the rescue of box office right now. The production company has provided the best films on a minimum budget over the last few years.

Maddock has already taken over other big production companies like Yash Raj Films and it seems like there will be a point where big superstars might be a part of their films over the upcoming years.

Meanwhile, let’s wait and see if the above-mentioned films will get a confirmed release date in the next few months.
