Dhurandhar 2 BO: What are the Massive Records to target?

Dhurandhar 2 has become one of the most talked about upcoming films in the trade circles. Film critics and box office experts are discussing the kind of records the sequel might create once it releases in theatres.

The sequel is reportedly aiming to surpass the numbers set by several post pandemic blockbusters. Pushpa 2: The Rule currently holds major records for opening day and weekend collections. Those numbers were established before Dhurandhar released in December last year.

Early predictions based on the response to paid previews have created strong expectations. Normal advance bookings are yet to open. Trade analysts believe the film could challenge the opening records set by Allu Arjun’s blockbuster.

Pushpa 2 opened with around Rs. 70 crores on its first day. The film later created a record single day collection of Rs. 85 crores. It collected Rs. 285 crores during its opening weekend and reached Rs. 425 crores in the first week.

The first Dhurandhar also delivered impressive numbers at the box office. The film recorded the highest second weekend collection of Rs. 143 crores. It also achieved the biggest second week total of Rs. 253 crores.

Eventually, Dhurandhar became the highest Bollywood grosser of all time in India. The film reportedly collected Rs. 838 crores domestically. Its massive success has raised expectations for the sequel.

Trade experts believe Dhurandhar 2 could follow the trend seen with successful sequels. Films like Baahubali 2, K.G.F. Chapter 2, and Pushpa 2 surpassed the collections of their earlier parts.

The current buzz suggests that the sequel could cross Rs. 1,000 crores in India within two weeks. One reason is the absence of major competing releases. Most premium shows with higher ticket prices are expected to go to Ranveer Singh’s film.

Audiences are now waiting for normal advance bookings to begin. With only a few days left for release, the excitement around the film continues to grow. The coming days will reveal how strong the demand is at the theatres.
