Dhurandhar 2 vs Bhooth Bangla? Unfair Treatment to Akshay

The historic run of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has seemingly created concern among other filmmakers. It has led to a situation where the fate of upcoming big projects is being questioned. In between all these, Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla is not arriving on April 10 as scheduled.

While the historic business of Ranveer Singh’s film was believed to be the reason, an insider for Bollywood Hungama is now making a different claim.

The source says that Deepak Sharma, Jio Studios distribution head, asked the multiplexes to pull back the KDM of Aditya Dhar’s film if they cannot promise 10,000 shows after the release of Akshay’s horror comedy. The commitment was taken in writing from the distributors, who are not stepping back from accumulating profits as much as possible.

The same request was made to the single screens, asking them to give four shows to the spy action-drama. The producers of Akshay’s film aimed to get a normal release like every other movie of the actor. However, the multiplex association has now agreed to the demands, and the makers of Bhooth Bangla have preferred to avoid getting involved in any controversy.

The new release date has been reportedly fixed as April 17. Although trade experts did not react to the latest claims, they said that postponing the movie by a week was a good move. They mentioned that Ranveer’s film will be watched by almost everyone by then, and Bhooth Bangla can offer something fresh, which will help pull audiences.

On the other hand, Akshay’s fans are frustrated with Jio Studios. The supporters criticized the production company for using the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge as a power to earn more money. Some others alleged that Jio was attempting to dominate the theatres.

A few people also advised Jio to avoid using such strategies in the future, stating that if the reports turn out to be true, the public might start rejecting their films.

While an official announcement is awaited, time will tell if Akshay and Priyadarshan’s combination after many years will continue bringing good news for the theatres and establish Akshay back in his old position.
