Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film Romeo is now supposed to be released in 2026. Notably, the film was originally scheduled to arrive on December 5, 2025, clashing with two more big films, including Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar and Prabhas’ The Raja Saab.

It seems like Vishal is not willing to compromise in terms of collections and this could be one of the main reasons for postponing the film. However, an official announcement is currently awaited.

Romeo’s planning has also been a little bit complicated for Vishal, as it was originally expected to feature Kartik Aaryan in the lead. The previous title of the film was Arjun Ustara, and since things did not work out as planned, Shahid Kapoor was chosen for the lead alongside Triptii Dimri.

Meanwhile, two films will now face each other on December 5. Both of them are big-budget projects. The first look of Dhurandhar, which came out on July 6, 2025, has received a positive response, and has already started speculations that The Raja Saab might not work in North Indian belts.

On the other hand, the teaser of The Raja Saab has received a mixed response, with a few people criticizing the bad VFX. However, considering the popularity of Prabhas among both Telugu and Hindi audiences, it is expected to take a big opening, leading to more collections until the end of its theatrical run.

In this situation, it can be said that Vishal made a good decision to postpone Romeo. While allotting screens would be a headache, the film might get ignored in case The Raja Saab and Dhurandhar has extremely entertaining content.

Vishal Bhardwaj has a habit of making films that does not target the mass audiences. His films are always focused on themes that can attract only a particular section of the audience. This is also one of the reasons why Vishal never gave a big blockbuster throughout his career as a director.

However, the tables might turn as Vishal has not revealed much about his upcoming film. He has enough time to add elements that will attract crowds to the big screen. Moreover, it can also help Shahid to bounce back as the actor’s last two films have flopped.
