Flop Director: One Star Escapes, Another Trapped

Vishal Bharadwaj is a critically acclaimed director of films like Omkara, Maqbool, Haider and Kaminey. He is known for making films that garner appreciation of the critics but they often fail to become box office successes.

An untitled project that was earlier in news for uniting the current heartthrob of B-Town – Kartik Aryan, and acclaimed director Vishal Bharadwaj is now gone to Shahid Kapoor. Shahid Kapoor has already worked with Vishal Bharadwaj in films like Haider, Kaminey and Rangoon. It was believed that Vishal Bharadwaj brought out the best in Shahid in terms of acting.

This new untitled project is to be a commercial entertainer packed with action and it is backed by the producer Sajid Nadiadwala. It also has Bollywood’s emerging diva Tripti Dimri in it and the film is based on the underworld tussle between Dawood Ibrahim and Hussain Ustara. Will Vishal Bharadwaj be able to give a box office hit?

It seems like Kartik Aryan who is on a rising journey to stardom has wisely opted out of the project. But Shahid Kapoor seems to have made a risky career choice. Rangoon was the last collaboration between this actor-director duo and it was a flop. Fans are hoping that beyond critical acclaim, Vishal Bharadwaj brings them something that is a wholesome box office entertainer.
