Biggest Comedy Franchise Part 5: Will It Still Work?

After a long gap, Golmaal 5 is finally set to go on floors next month. Sources quoted by Bollywood Hungama have shared the update. Rohit Shetty continues as director, staying firmly in charge of the franchise once again.

Insiders say the script is complete and ready to roll. Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn believe the film is funnier than before. A fresh theme has been introduced, marking a subject never explored in earlier instalments.

Rohit Shetty plans to bring the comedy entertainer to theatres next year. He is currently finishing Rakesh Maria’s biopic starring John Abraham. That shoot wraps up this month, after which work on Golmaal 5 will continue until July.

Online buzz around the film is steadily growing. Reports of the original cast returning have excited fans. At the same time, viewers expect something new in terms of humour, with many hoping to see a different side of Sharman Joshi.

Golmaal enjoys a massive fan base even today. The first four films continue to attract viewers on YouTube, with fans frequently revisiting iconic scenes. This also adds pressure on Rohit Shetty to recreate the magic while offering something fresh.

Box office performance will play a crucial role. With Cirkus and Singham Again failing to impress, Rohit Shetty needs to rebuild audience trust. Strong promotions and genuine laugh out loud moments will be key to the film’s success.

The previous instalment earned nearly Rs. 300 crores at the box office. It now remains to be seen whether a new theme and the return of the original gang can help Golmaal 5 surpass that milestone.
