Recent industry chatter suggests that Golmaal 5 may experiment with a treasure-hunt based storyline, a concept that could mark a noticeable shift for the long-running comedy franchise directed by Rohit Shetty.
According to reports, the film might revolve around a hidden treasure that sets the familiar Golmaal gang on a chaotic quest, filled with clues, misunderstandings and comic misadventures.
If this direction is indeed true, it would bring the franchise slightly closer to adventure-comedy territory rather than the purely situational humour that defined earlier films like Golmaal: Fun Unlimited and Golmaal Again.
Some comparisons have even been drawn with the treasure-hunting adventure style seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, although such parallels appear largely speculative at this stage.
However, the treasure hunt concept also raises an interesting comparison with another popular Bollywood comedy franchise Dhamaal and its sequels.
The Dhamaal series, created by Indra Kumar, has traditionally centred around characters chasing a hidden fortune, turning the treasure hunt itself into the main narrative engine. The humour in Dhamaal largely comes from greed, rivalry and absurd situations that arise while different characters compete to reach the prize first.
By contrast, the Golmaal films have historically relied more on mistaken identities, chaotic friendships and situational comedy rather than a goal-driven adventure plot.
Because of this difference, introducing a treasure-hunt structure could blur the line between the two franchises if not handled carefully.
For now, the storyline of Golmaal 5 remains unconfirmed.
Whether this idea becomes the final narrative or simply part of early speculation will only become clearer once the makers officially reveal more details.
