Trailer Talk: Can Nostalgia Save VD’s Old-School Comedy?

The trailer for David Dhawan’s latest film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is out now after a slight delay. The makers launched the trailer at a grand venue in Mumbai, and it is already creating a buzz. The footage promises a lot of confusion, chaos, and the classic silly humor that David Dhawan is known for.

The trailer opens with a courtroom scene where Mrunal Thakur, playing Varun Dhawan’s wife, asks for a divorce because he wants to be a father but she is not ready for a child yet. After that, we see Varun wooing Pooja Hegde, who plays the sister of a rich don named Randhawa, played by Jimmy Shergill. The real problem starts when Mrunal comes back to Varun saying she is pregnant, while Pooja is also pregnant with Varun’s baby at the same time.

Social media reactions to the trailer are mixed to positive so far. Fans of commercial movies are calling it a treat and some even pointed out that a few jokes remind them of Akshay Kumar’s classic Garam Masala. Others feel the trailer cut could have been a lot better because most of the comedy scenes feel recycled from David Dhawan’s own past movies.

However, the music of the film is getting immense praise from everyone. The hit songs Chunari and Ishq Sona Hai sound very good in the trailer and are expected to be the main selling point of the entire album.

Since there has been no good commercial entertainer in theaters recently, trade experts believe this movie might become a hit at the box office if the music and promotions manage to get people excited enough to buy tickets.
