Why Akshay & Saif Combo Can Turn into Disaster?

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are officially reuniting on the big screens, and the duo will be presented under the direction of well-renowned director Priyadarshan.

These three names are enough to draw a considerable amount of viewership and ticket sales, but things might not suit the fans if further information is provided regarding the collaboration.

The Khiladi of Bollywood will be working with Saif Ali Khan once again after their last collaboration in 2008 for the film Tashan. The duo this time will be working in an edge-of-the-seat thriller titled Haiwaan, which promises to be brutal.

Under the legendary direction of Priyadarshan, nothing can go wrong as fans would love to see the two veterans going at it once again after all these years.

However, the only problem that remains is that the film is a remake. It is a remake of the 2016 thriller Oppam starring Mohanlal, which was also directed by Priyadarshan.

Priyadarshan has made several remakes over the years in several languages, but given the current scenario, remakes are not being valued by the viewers as they demand something new.

With such a talented crew at hand, no one would love to watch a remake out of this collaboration, and it was seen with some recent failures, including Saif Ali Khan’s Vikram Vedha, which also starred Hrithik Roshan.

While the film was brilliant, no one was interested in seeing two top-tier Bollywood stars enacting something which has already been made and distributed throughout the country.

With Oppam being released in 2016, the gap of nine years is enough for Indian audiences to watch the original version and enjoy it in its entirety.

In an era where remakes are being bashed at the box office, Priyadarshan seems to take a huge risk by reuniting Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in another dull affair.

However, given their fanbase, fans would love to see them again on the big screens, irrespective of the film or story, but expecting no huge collections or housefull shows for the film would be a safer prediction.
