Teaser Talk: Taut Courtroom Drama on Religion & Law

Emraan Hashmi is set to impress audiences in a different avatar, and the teaser of his upcoming film Haq hints at it. The teaser was released on September 23, 2025, and promises a gripping courtroom drama.

Based on the controversial Shah Bano case, Haq stars Yami Gautam as the female lead. The teaser focuses on dialogues rather than intense moments, showcasing a woman fighting for her rights after divorce. The courtroom scenes already leave a strong impression.

Emraan’s character questions the reason for taking the case to court, while Yami’s character delivers powerful lines urging the law to treat everyone equally, regardless of gender or religion. The dialogues highlight the emotional and social stakes of the story.

Directed by Suparn S Varma, who also worked on The Family Man Season 2, Haq has the potential to become a sleeper hit. The makers need strong promotions to ensure box office success and help audiences recognise Emraan’s impactful performance.

The main trailer is yet to release and may create a stronger impact than the teaser. Haq will clash with Ikkis by Sriram Raghavan, a director known for distinctive cinema. Real-life case-based films have performed well at times, but strategy will be key to Haq’s reach.

It remains to be seen whether Haq will make a strong box office impact or be overshadowed by Ikkis. Audience engagement and promotional efforts will determine how much the film resonates with viewers.
