Housefull 5 was released in theatres earlier this month, and it has continued its run on the big screen despite getting negative reactions. As per the latest update, Housefull 5 has turned out to be an average to flop film, which is something that has hardly happened for comedy films from Bollywood.
Despite getting a decent start at the box office with good weekend numbers, the film could not create enough excitement among the audience to purchase tickets. The second week was also not up to the mark, despite that it has no big competition.
The collection was also somehow impacted by the release of Sitaare Zameen Par in the third week. Notably, the film’s box office numbers came down to single digits on this particular week.
Housefull 5 has still managed to recover the money invested in its making, and the recovery amount is reported to be Rs. 240 crores, considering that the budget came down to Rs. 220 crores after release.
The budget also includes Akshay Kumar’s fees, and the current figure has hinted that the actor might not get the remuneration that he was possibly expecting. However, the current box office number is not something that is expected from a successful franchise like Housefull.
The film has maintained a reputation of attracting family audiences since the beginning, and it seems like Sajid Nadiadwala’s aim of providing something bigger and better has impacted the film’s performance.
It looks like Sajid Nadiadwala has to bring back the old team that contributed to the success of the Housefull franchise.
