Housefull 5 is all set to release on June 6, 2025. Advance booking has already been opened in all the major theatre chains across India. However, the response has not been extraordinary as per expectations.
This is very disappointing, considering that the booking was opened almost a week before release. The film has reportedly sold only 26,000 tickets around India by 11 a.m. on June 2, 2025. Notably, the number is better compared to the advance booking numbers of Mission Raniganj.
Around 11.7 lakh tickets have been reportedly sold in Mumbai for the 5A version, which is the main market for Hindi films. On the other hand, the 5B version has sold almost 7.15 lakh tickets at the same place so far.
A few online portals also reported that the film has recorded a box office collection of almost Rs. 1.01 crores and blocked seats worth Rs. 4.08 crores.
By 8 p.m. on June 2, 2025, around 11,000 tickets have been sold for the film at chains such as PVRInox and Cinepolis.
The numbers do not look good as the film is made on a budget of Rs. 375 crores. Housefull 5 needs a big opening of somewhere between Rs. 40-50 crores if the makers are aiming to recover the overall money invested.
Looking at the current situation, the film might take an opening of somewhere between Rs. 18-20 crores, which is underwhelming. In between all these, the makers have reportedly reduced the budget to Rs. 225 crores due to the average response in advance booking.
While the numbers are better compared to other films of Akshay Kumar after the COVID-19 pandemic, the pace could have been faster. The film has to sell more than 1,25,000 tickets by June 5, 2025 to get a good opening.
Although Housefull is a popular comedy franchise, the teaser and trailer have been unable to create enough buzz for the film. The songs have not emerged as chartbusters, except Laal Pari. The success of Laal Pari is not sufficient to pull audiences.
The film has an ensemble star cast, and it seems like people are not finding the promotional material attractive enough to visit the big screens. Moreover, the film’s trailer is missing elements that can leave an impression in terms of comedy for the single-screen audiences.
On the other hand, people might not be aware that the advance booking has opened. However, it is not the right thing to depend on the on-spot bookings.
With only four days left for release, let’s see if a positive word-of-mouth will lead to a big jump for the box office collections of Housefull 5 or if the comedy film will turn out to be a big failure in the end.
