Theaters, OTT, TV… Akshay Everywhere! Overdose?

Akshay Kumar’s packed schedule where his films hit OTT, theatres and TV all within weeks may be doing more harm than good.

While being in the spotlight might seem like a smart move, it’s starting to work against him and the industry as a whole.

When audience see Akshay in a new film every few weeks, the excitement of a new release starts to wear off. The urgency to watch a film in theatres especially on the first day is lost.

Instead people think that it’ll be on OTT soon, so they just wait. This shift in mindset eats into the theatrical experience and ultimately the box office.

For big stars, exclusivity isn’t just about image, it’s a necessity to keep the audience engaged.

A theatrical window where a film is only in cinemas for a few weeks helps build buzz and makes each release feel like an event.

But when a film is available everywhere at once, that sense of occasion disappears along with the desire to watch it on the big screen.

There’s also the risk of overexposure. When an actor is always present, the audience starts taking them for granted.

Even well made films can go unnoticed in theatres just because there wasn’t enough time or space for the excitement to build.

Jumping from one film to the next without giving each film a breather makes it harder for any one film to leave a lasting impact.

If Akshay wants to maintain his stardom and the health of the industry, he should slow down a bit.

Being more selective and spacing out the releases can help restore the anticipation and exclusivity that brings the audience back to the theatres.

After all, stars shine brightest when they aren’t always in view.
