After Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar had several differences in the past, it shelved the much-awaited sequel of Dostana which was supposed to feature Kartik Aaryan and Jahnvi Kapoor in prominent roles.
As the duo has buried the hatchet, Karan Johar is looking to restart the project with a fresh cast.
Dharma Productions is giving Dostana 2 a fresh start, this time reimagining it as a digital film for Amazon Prime Video.
The project is being revived from the ground up, with major changes to the script to better fit the OTT format. Vikrant Massey and Lakshya have been cast as the new leads, portraying a gay couple, while the female lead has yet to be finalized.
Janhvi Kapoor, who was originally part of the cast, is no longer involved in this revamped version.
Vikrant Massey would be taking the role which was earlier portrayed by Kartik Aaryan along with Kill fame Lakshya.
Advait Chauhan will be directing the sequel who is renowned for making films like Laal Singh Chaddha, Secret Superstar and Loveyapa. However none of these films have made any impact at the box office being huge disasters.
As the air between Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan has cleared, it is good to see projects like Dostana 2 getting a chance once again.
With the film scheduled to directly release on OTT, it remains to be seen how the film turns out to be.
