Latest reports suggest that Rohit Shetty is aiming for a New Year’s Eve release for Golmaal 5 on December 31, 2026. This move has created a lot of tension because Shah Rukh Khan’s much awaited film, King, is also expected to arrive around the same time. This could turn into one of the biggest clashes we have seen in recent years.
This face off is special because it brings back some famous rivalries from the past. Fans still remember the intense battle between Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar, where SRK and Ajay Devgn went head to head. Even Rohit Shetty has crossed paths with King Khan before when Simmba was released alongside Zero. It seems like the stakes are higher than ever this time because both are big budget movies.
To make things even more problematic, Hollywood biggies Avengers Doomsday and Dune 3 also releasing in the same month. The biggest issue will be the division of screens across the country. If all these films release back to back, they will have to share theaters which can stop either movie from reaching its full potential on the opening day.
Trade experts believe that one of the producers might eventually shift their release date to avoid a big loss and there is a high chance that King will be the one to move because of its delayed schedule and unfinished VFX work.
This situation will be a total treat for the audience but it could become a nightmare for distributors if all these massive films release back to back. We will just have to wait and see who actually wins this grand battle at the box office.
