Love and War Targets Long Weekend: High Stakes Ahead

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much awaited epic Love & War finally has a release date. After facing multiple delays and technical problems, the film is now almost ready to be released on 21 January 2027.

The choice to release the movie on a Thursday instead of the usual Friday is a strategic business decision that allows the production to take full advantage of a long opening weekend because Republic Day falls on the following Tuesday, which means audiences will have multiple holidays to visit the cinema during the first week of its run and help the film reach a wider audience across the country.

This project is a period romance drama that features a love triangle involving two army officers played by Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, making it the first time that Vicky Kaushal has worked with the director while also serving as a major reunion for Ranbir and Alia who have both previously collaborated with Bhansali on other films like Saawariya and Gangubai Kathiawadi.

However, industry experts feel that releasing Love & War after Ramayana Part 1 puts Ranbir in a situation where he will have to prove himself twice since he first needs to show he can carry such a massive project and make it successful. People will expect more from him if Ramayana becomes a hit, but if it flops then it will have a negative impact on Love & War.

Some experts also pointed out that Love & War could face a clash in January as it is the first month of the year and many producers will try to release their film around republic day period.
