Alia’s Hot Posters: What’s This Obsession, Mr. Bhansali?

A day after Ranbir Kapoor’s first look was revealed, the makers of Love & War have now released two glimpses of Alia Bhatt. The actress can be spotted in a glamorous look, wearing a red outfit in an era that seemingly dates back to the ‘80s.

The promotional strategy of the makers is clearly good in terms of creating hype for the film. However, audiences are giving a mixed response to the new posters.

While a majority has accepted the fact that Alia Bhatt is looking beautiful, others have questioned whether Sanjay Leela Bhansali is repeating what audiences have already witnessed in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Most of them addressed the fact that Alia is possibly playing a cabaret dancer, and a similar concept has been explored in SLB’s previous film, as a kotha was a part of the storyline.

A lot of people also expressed their doubts about SLB’s obsession with the concept of kotha. They said that a film like Love & War did not need this thing. Some even believed that SLB is possibly falling short of new ideas now, which is why he has preferred to stick to one thing and give it a new presentation.

On the other hand, a particular section also compared the looks of the new posters and the previous ones with Bombay Velvet, which was also set during a certain period in the past. But critics have stated that no judgment should be made until the movie arrives on the big screen. Comparisons were also made with Kiara Advani’s character from Toxic.

Some social media users also expressed doubts about whether SLB will push the release date once again if the resemblance to other films leads to a lot of criticism. However, trade experts have advised SLB to avoid doing that since it will only bring more trouble.

As of now, the posters are slowly bringing Love & War into discussion among the audience. Only time will tell if crowds will gather at the theatres to witness SLB’s next big film.
