Mastiii 4, the latest film in the adult comedy franchise starring Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi, has landed in legal trouble ahead of its OTT release. The issue surfaced just days before the film’s scheduled digital premiere.
Content creator and radio jockey RJ Ashish Sharma has moved the Delhi High Court. He alleged that a scene in Mastiii 4 copies his viral Instagram skit without consent. The complaint centres on unauthorised use of creative content.
RJ Sharma stated that a sequence in the film closely mirrors his skit titled Shaq Karne Ka Nateeja. He had shared the audio-visual skit on Instagram in January 2024. The clip gained massive traction online.
The skit reportedly crossed 11 million views and helped boost his online reach. It was driven by humour based on suspicion. RJ Sharma claims the popularity of the skit made it easily recognisable.
According to the plea, the film copied more than just the idea. RJ Sharma alleged similarities in narrative flow, character interaction, and the final comic punchline. He claimed this amounts to copyright infringement.
RJ Sharma asserted that he is the sole creator and copyright holder of the skit. He has sought a permanent injunction on the disputed scene. He also demanded financial damages and disclosure of the film’s profits.
The case was heard by Justice Tushar Rao Gedela on January 6, 2026. Considering the imminent OTT release, the court issued notice to the film’s producers. A response has been sought before any interim relief.
The next hearing is scheduled for January 13, 2026. Mastiii 4 had its theatrical release on November 21, 2025. Its OTT release is set for January 16, 2026, subject to the court’s decision.
