Mirzapur: The Movie has unexpectedly taken a good start at the box office. While doubts were being raised due to the failure of similar-themed projects in the past, the results have been completely different.

The film was released on the occasion of Janmashtami, and the festival brought a lot of benefit, helping it to earn Rs. 26 crores on the first day.

The numbers have also been decent on Saturday, with figures touching Rs. 14 crores by evening hours. Trade experts are saying that the film will easily maintain a figure of Rs. 10 crores from Monday.

Although the numbers are not big, it has managed to beat the Janmashtami collections of Stree 2, Laal Singh Chaddha, and Raksha Bandhan. However, it is still behind Jawan, which started at Rs. 64 crores, followed by War 2, which recorded Rs. 45 crores.

But the figure is reported to be outstanding, mainly because even popular faces working in the film industry for more than ten years have failed to deliver these numbers whenever their movies are released. The two names that have emerged in the list are Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar.

While the three Khans are going through a little bit of ups and downs, it was Ajay and Akshay, after them, who were delivering decent figures of Rs. 30-40 crores on the first day. But the situation has changed. Now even Ajay is struggling to deliver the same number. The major target that he has reached so far is Rs. 20 crores.

Netizens wrote that the era of star power is gone now. They stated that the audience wants to watch good content nowadays, even if it is an adaptation of a hit web series. Most of them said that Mirzapur built a big fan base on OTT, and the makers ensured not to lose the essence of the show while making the film, which worked in its favour.

As of now, the official budget of the film has not been confirmed. However, the ongoing situation has clearly revealed that it is going to have a long run at the box office.
