Boney Kapoor & Khushi Kapoor Trying to Ruin Sridevi’s Legacy?

Nearly nine years after Mom became one of Sridevi’s most admired performances, its sequel has officially gone on floors. The announcement has revived interest in the franchise. Fans continue to hold strong emotional memories of the 2017 film.

Producer Boney Kapoor confirmed that Mom 2 is currently being shot in Noida. The filming is taking place at the upcoming International Film City near Greater Noida. The sequel is already progressing with key portions underway.

The film is directed by Girish Kohli, who co wrote the original Mom. This project marks his transition from writer to director within the same franchise. His involvement has added continuity to the sequel’s creative vision.

Actors Jisshu Sengupta and Karishma Tanna are among those currently filming. Reports suggest that Karishma Tanna will be seen in a significant role. The sequel is described as a fresh narrative set in a similar justice driven space rather than a direct continuation.

The focus, however, remains on Khushi Kapoor, who has been confirmed as a central lead. Given the emotional value attached to Mom, expectations are high. Khushi’s earlier performance in Loveyapa faced criticism online, raising questions about her screen presence.

Mom 2 could therefore become a turning point in her career. Sequels linked to iconic performances invite strong comparisons from audiences. The film’s reception will largely depend on performance and storytelling rather than legacy alone.
