Utterly Shameful & Unacceptable: Even Celebs Not Safe?

Horrific instances of catcalling, unsolicited touches and lewd remarks are so commonplace against women in India that even celebrities are not safe from it. Every now and then actresses are put in a compromising position and they have to face humiliation at public places.

One such incident happened with Mouni Roy recently, who was visiting for a public appearance in Karnal, Haryana. While going to the stage she was groped by men older than 50 years old, and even while on stage she was faced by lewd remarks.

She herself shared this experience on social media after her videos from the event went viral. She was clearly very uncomfortable from all the content floating about her and her fans are requesting everyone to respect her privacy.

She stated that this was a really embarrassing experience for her and the involvement of such older men goes to show how deeply problematic our cultures tend to be. Today it was Mouni but it could be any woman for that matter.

Men seriously need to rethink their attitudes around women otherwise women would have to practice a total rejection of male society, as is the case in countries like South Korea. Such cases are skyrocketing in India and women need to speak up more than ever before.
