Kartik Aaryan is stepping into an unexpected genre with NaagZilla, a high-concept creature comedy backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films.
Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and co-produced by Sujit Jain, the film features Kartik as a shape-shifting nag blending mythology with humour in a way that could redefine fantasy comedy in Hindi cinema.
Industry insiders confirm that NaagZilla will begin shooting on November 1 in Mumbai. Pre-production has been ongoing for several weeks, and the team is said to be fully prepared for the first schedule.
The makers are eyeing an Independence Day 2026 release, hoping to capitalise on the extended holiday weekend for a strong box-office debut.
Although the female lead has not yet been announced, reports suggest a surprise casting choice that has heightened buzz around the project.
NaagZilla also marks the start of a long-term creative partnership between Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films, both known for balancing commercial appeal with distinctive storytelling rooted in Indian culture.
Interestingly, Kartik will also resume work on Anurag Basu’s next film next month, juggling dates between both major projects.
Recently, Kartik and Mahaveer Jain were honoured by Gautam Adani at Whistling Woods International, signalling the growing confidence of the film industry in their collaboration.
With NaagZilla, Kartik Aaryan continues expanding his filmography into bold and offbeat spaces merging mythology, comedy, and scale under one ambitious banner.
