Dune to Ramayana: 300 Days of VFX Set to Blow Minds

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, and Sunny Deol, is on track for a Diwali 2026 release. The edit of Part One has been locked, with its runtime and structure finalised. The film has now entered an intensive post-production phase, with heavy focus on visual effects.

Producer Namit Malhotra’s team has reportedly dedicated more than 300 working days to VFX, showing the massive scale of the project. Work on Part Two will also run parallel, with nearly 75 percent of its post-production planned before Part One even hits theatres.

A year-long marketing campaign has been designed to keep the film in steady public view. Malhotra, through his company DNEG, has delivered international projects like Dune and Christopher Nolan’s films. Still, he admits Ramayana is his toughest challenge due to the cultural and visual responsibility of retelling the epic.

The ambition behind the project is clear, but Indian audiences remain cautious after uneven mythological adaptations such as Adipurush. For Ramayana to succeed, it must balance grand visuals with sensitive storytelling and deliver a timeless narrative with coherence.
