Laapataa Ladies, a highly anticipated film for India’s entry in the 2025 Oscars, was unfortunately not selected in the Best International Film category.
The film, which has garnered immense love from audiences across various Indian languages, including Telugu, was highly praised for its engaging storyline and universal appeal.
Not a single negative review followed its release, marking it as a rare standout in recent Indian cinema.
Produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies was expected to make a strong showing on the global stage, but India’s hopes were dashed with its exclusion from the final list.
Meanwhile, another Hindi film, Santosh, submitted by the UK, did manage to make it to the Oscars’ short list.
