Ranveer Singh is currently shooting for his upcoming action drama Dhurandhar. Recently a picture went viral from the sets of the film, where a Pakistani flag was visible in the background.
Many netizens took notice and heavily criticized Ranveer and the filmmakers for what clearly looks like a background prop in one of the scenes.
Audiences took to social media to express their disillusionment and left many shameful comments, asking questions like who permitted the use of the flag and how Bollywood has completely lost its way.
Some fans countered this claim with logic, stating that the flag was used in order to establish the fact that the characters are in the Pakistan area in the movie.
One user sarcastically responded to the trolls, saying, “It’s not like we can fly to Pakistan every time we need to shoot an Indo-Pak scene, as if our relations aren’t tense enough already.”
As per industry insiders, Dhurandhar is based on true events, even though details about the film’s plot are kept under wraps.
Rumors also suggest that the film is inspired by the life and career of Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) and a legendary spymaster.
Ranveer will portray the fictionalized character of Ajit, who goes undercover in enemy territory (Pakistan), risking everything to gather intelligence to prevent some major crisis.
The film aims to pay homage to Ajit’s life by cementing his legacy as the “James Bond of India.”
There are also other conflicting reports suggesting that instead of Ranveer, R. Madhavan might play the character of Ajit Doval. This development has also particularly received a lot of praise from the netizens.
While the film’s first look has garnered widespread praise and admiration on the internet, recent releases, such as the inclusion of the Pakistani flag, have sparked significant backlash among fans.
