Pratiek Smita Patil, the villain in HIT 3 and the son of late actress Smita Patil and actor-politician Raj Babbar, recently opened up about his turbulent past.
Pratiek portrays a psycho villain in Nani’s HIT 3, and his performance has garnered mixed reactions, with some viewers finding it overly dramatic.
None of the supporting characters truly stood out in the film, mainly due to how poorly written they were.
Even Prateik’s character that takes over the second half of the film came off as artificial and caricature-ish.
In an interview, Pratiek admitted to being a “raging addict,” a period he saw himself thrown out of multiple academic institutions, including Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International Acting School, where he was enrolled post his 2008 debut.
Pratiek was raised by his maternal grandparents after Smita Patil’s tragic death during childbirth.
With an already troubled childhood, his complicated relationship with his father intensified his struggles.
“I was a menace,” Prateik recalls, acknowledging the pain he caused to himself and others.
His addiction peaked during his early career, leading to personal and professional setbacks, the biggest of which was the missed opportunity on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, which he lost due to rehab.
Prateik expressed heavy regrets, particularly the pain he had caused his grandparents, with his grandmother passing away witnessing his struggles.
Reflecting on his journey toward recovery, he expressed a deep desire for his grandmother to witness the man he has become today.
Since then Prateik has also embraced his mother’s legacy, adopting the name Prateik Smita Patil.
