Ramayana Music Draws Adipurush Debate
The response to the Ramayana soundtrack has sparked discussion online, with some listeners saying the songs have not met their expectations. The reaction comes despite considerable interest around the collaboration between A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer for the film’s music.
One social media user described the soundtrack as “torturous”, arguing that the music lacks the emotional weight and impact expected from a project of this scale. Some reactions have also compared the latest music with Ajay and Atul’s work on Adipurush.
Interestingly, the comparison is not necessarily about the films themselves. Adipurush faced considerable criticism after its release, but its music received a more positive response from sections of the audience. The song “Jai Shri Ram“, composed by Ajay and Atul, became particularly popular.
However, there is an important distinction in the comparison. “Ram Siya Ram” from Adipurush was composed by Sachet-Parampara, not Ajay and Atul. The song was sung by Sachet Tandon and Parampara Tandon.
Some listeners feel that the Ramayana tracks released so far have not created a similar impact. However, these are subjective reactions, and the film’s complete background score has not yet been experienced within its full cinematic context.
That distinction could matter once the film arrives in theatres. Songs and background music serve different purposes, and Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman’s work may be experienced differently alongside the film’s visuals and narrative.
For now, the early online discussion shows that expectations around Ramayana’s music remain high. Whether the complete soundtrack and background score receive a different response once audiences experience them with the film remains to be seen.
