The makers of Ramayana appear to be saving their biggest surprise for the very end of Part 1. According to the latest reports, Sunny Deol, who plays Lord Hanuman in the ambitious epic, will reportedly make his appearance only towards the conclusion of the film. His introduction could either be the final scene before the credits or feature as a mid-credit or post-credit sequence.
The strategy is to create the kind of audience frenzy that followed the ending of Baahubali: The Beginning. The first Baahubali left viewers with the famous question about why Kattappa killed Baahubali. Ramayana seems to be attempting a similar approach, but with a character whose arrival is already surrounded by enormous curiosity.
Sunny Deol‘s casting as Lord Hanuman has been one of the most talked-about aspects of the film, yet the makers deliberately kept him out of the trailer released on July 30. That omission now looks increasingly strategic.
Interestingly, a select audience at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas had already seen a brief glimpse of Sunny as Hanuman during a special presentation of Ramayana footage. Reports suggest that the actor appears in a completely different avatar, which could make the eventual reveal even more impactful.
The gamble is quite clear. If the Hanuman reveal lands as strongly as the makers expect, it could give Part 1 a powerful final act and turn the interval between the two films into a long conversation.
Ramayana Part 1 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas during Diwali 2026, with Part 2 following during Diwali 2027.
