Rani Mukerji receives honorary doctorate
Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji has added another prestigious honour to her name. She has been conferred an Honorary Doctor of Letters by La Trobe University, Australia.
Rani Mukerji was the second Indian film personality who receive an honorary doctorate from the university. earlier Shah Rukh Khan has received the honour.
Opening up on the recognition, the actress said, it was one of the most humbling moments of her life. She added that she has always chosen films based on the impact they create and stories that she genuinely feels need to be told.
She also added that her choices have often revolved around stories that can inspire and empower people, particularly powerful girls and women in India. She said she has always tried to represent them through cinema that comes from the right place. The actress further said that receiving this honour for doing what she believes is right has motivated her to continue her efforts.
For Rani Mukerji, this honour is not just another addition to her list of achievements. It is also a recognition of the kind of stories and characters she has chosen throughout her career.
