Ready-to-Release Biggie in Legal Trouble

Ready-to-Release-Bharat-in-Legal-TroubleBollywood superstar Salman Khan’s ‘Bharat’ is all set for a grand release this 5th June 2019. Unexpectedly, the movie ran into legal trouble when an activist named Vipin Tyagi filed a petition against the use of the title ‘Bharat’ for the movie.

The Public Interest Litigation was filed under Section 3 of Names and Emblems Act that prevents the use of national emblems and names (Prevention of Improper Use) for commercial purposes.

Needless to say, Salman Khan’s movie is a commercial flick, and this PIL at this juncture, just a few days before the release might make the makers anxious. However, the makers didn’t yet respond on this latest development. Let’s wait and see.

The petitioner also has objection to a certain dialogue in the movie that Salman Khan mouths comparing himself, i.e., Bharat (his name in the movie) to our motherland. The petitioner evoked patriotic sentiments through his PIL against the use of Bharat as it is the name of our country, officially.
