Many remakes from southern film industries are remade in Bollywood. Films like Rowdy Rathore, Kabir Singh, Baaghi and many more have been adapted from South Indian Film Industries, and they have been appreciated by Bollywood fans.
But this has not been the case for Hindi remakes in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam or other regional languages. The acceptance of their audiences is not up to the mark for Bollywood stories to make space there.
Such has been the case with Mr. Bachchan which was a remake of Ajay Devgan starrer Raid in the Telugu language. It had major stars like Ravi Teja, Bhagyashree Borse and Jagapathi Babu but still it failed to impress the audiences.
Could it be because of the strong prejudice against Bollywood films? It could hardly make 10 crore rupees in the opening week and remained mild throughout its span in the theatres.
Now it has been quietly pushed to OTT platform Netflix but continues to have no luck as there has been no proper marketing for the same. Although, with its wider access on Netflix it might gain some attention over a vast range of demographics and find the right audience.
The unwillingness to accept different perspectives remains a problem in the entertainment industry. Acceptance can surely widen the scope of creativity of filmmakers!
