Sai Pallavi’s Warrior Avatar: Why Ramayana Fans Angry?

Sai Pallavi warrior look divides viewers

The promotional materials for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana are back in the headlines again. While the movie was expected to follow the epic with authenticity, a particular portion has now made headlines, as it is not something that happened in Valmiki’s story.

Notably, a sequence of Sita, played by Sai Pallavi, is going viral, where she can be spotted appearing as a warrior on screen, fighting demons and training the kids at the same time.

The moment has led to questions about whether the movie is 100% authentic or whether it has taken creative liberties to an extent where religious sentiments might be hurt in some manner. As of now, Namit Malhotra and the entire cast and crew have maintained silence on the matter.

The majority of social media users asked why the makers decided to add such scenes when Valmiki’s Ramayana does not portray Sita as a warrior. They even said that the writers should have opted to follow the original story instead of adding anything for cinematic appeal.

A particular section even criticized the makers’ desperation to get validation in the international market, adding that these unnecessary and irrelevant sequences might be a part of marketing the film outside India.

On the other hand, a portion of the audience clarified that while Valmiki’s Ramayana does not show Sita as a warrior, they said that there is another version called Adbhuta Ramayana, where she appears as a warrior.

People even wrote that the Ravana in this version has 1,000 heads and hence is more powerful, known as Sahasra Ravana. They claimed that this powerful Ravana also defeats Lord Ram in Adbhuta Ramayana, following which Maa Sita kills Ravana by transforming into Maa Kali.

Ranbir Kapoor’s fans reacted by saying that people should wait until the film’s release before making a judgment. A few of the supporters expressed their happiness, stating that while this matter might lead to controversy, it will help to attract audiences at the same time.

Advance booking for the film is reported to open in a few days. It will be interesting to see whether this magnum opus will create bigger records compared to other blockbusters over the last few years.
