Would This Twist Have Made Sikandar a Blockbuster?

Salman Khan’s Sikandar has finally hit the screens, but fan reactions have been overwhelmingly negative. Many are disappointed with the film’s plot and performances.

One of the biggest criticisms has been the chemistry between Salman and Rashmika Mandanna. Their pairing has faced severe trolling, with audiences feeling they were miscast as a husband-wife duo.

A common argument among fans is that the film would have worked better if their relationship had been written differently. Many believe portraying them as a father-daughter duo instead of a romantic pair could have made their dynamic more convincing.

Salman’s emotional connection with children in Bajrangi Bhaijaan remains one of his most beloved aspects as an actor. A similar dynamic in Sikandar could have resonated better with audiences.

The organ donation subplot might have carried more weight if Rashmika’s character had been his daughter rather than his wife. This change would have also addressed concerns about their age gap. More importantly, it could have strengthened the emotional depth of the story.

Sikandar has opened poorly, with first-day collections expected to be around 25 crores. This is far below expectations for a big Eid release on a Sunday.

While there may be some growth on Monday due to Eid, it is expected to be muted. From Tuesday onward, the film is likely to enter free-fall mode at the box office. The film is heading towards a lifetime collection of just 100 crores net in India.
