Salman Khan himself said that he gets paid high just for standing on the stage. Talking at the press meet of IIFA 2017, the star said that he loved rewards more than awards and have never received an award except for the supporting actor awards. As the Bodyguard says, he goes to such award functions only to perform not to receive awards.

The makers are ready to pay him huge, even if his performances were bad.He says: “It is like I am being paid just for standing there.” Well, why won’t they? People are ready to see him anyway on the screen and the makers get good views for it, which is why there is no need of performance there as Sallu Bhai says.
