He made it a point not to meet his kids when he was in jail. That’s truly reasonable as no kid would like to see his/her father in jail after being convicted of a crime. But he made sure to call them regularly whenever he could. Anyway, the actor got a lot of paroles and furloughs to meet his family and spend months together during his jail term.

Sanjay’s elder daughter Trishala (from his first marriage) is grown up and knows the reality. But his two younger kids are too young to understand the complexity of their father’s life and the reason behind the jail term in particular. So, keeping the truth from them is sensible indeed.
