Trailer Talk: Worse Than TV Serial Trash?

The Bhootni’s trailer has just dropped—and with it, a mix of excitement and trepidation. Starring Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, Sunny Singh and Palak Tiwari, this horror-comedy is set to hit screens on April 18, 2025.

That concept—horror-comedy—seems promising on paper. But does the trailer actually deliver on that promise?

You get a sense of a supernatural world, complete with ghostly characters and a grand Sanjay Dutt appearance.

There’s a buzz around Mouni Roy and Palak Tiwari’s eerie transformations, according to Bollywood Life.

But is that enough to keep you hooked when so many people find the horror lacking and the comedy forced?

Social media isn’t exactly kind to The Bhootni. Mathrubhumi’s review hinted at disappointment, and audiences aren’t holding back on social media.

Some are comparing it to Naagin or a low-budget Stree 2. The visual effects have taken a beating, with many saying it looks more like a daily soap than a movie you’d pay to see.

Bollywood has given us some real horror-comedy gems—Stree and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, for example.

But this genre is notoriously tricky. A weak script or too much CGI can quickly ruin the balance.

If The Bhootni follows that same over-the-top formula, will it entertain or just become another forgettable attempt?

The trailer has you laughing more than it scares you. Whether that works in its favour or not remains to be seen.

If The Bhootni doesn’t improve on what we’ve seen so far—it might be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
