Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff have been involved in controversy for promoting Vimal Pan Masala. Notably, the product is prohibited in Maharashtra, and now Tukaram Mundhe, the commissioner of the FDA, has stated that the trio’s celebrity status cannot protect them from regulatory action.
Show cause notices have been shared with the three actors related to the advertisement. Mundhe also confirmed that prosecution proceedings and adjudication are already in progress. He said in an interview that although the trio are stars, he is going to see them as advertisers and violators of the law in this case.
Mundhe revealed that one of the three actors has not responded to the notice, and they have taken action as per the law. However, he did not confirm if SRK responded to the notice. On the other hand, social media rumours claimed that it is SRK who has ignored the notice.
Mundhe said that the responses will be heard during the hearing process, adding that his officer, along with the assistant commissioner, is going to attend the hearing. Mundhe even dismissed the fact that celebrities endorsing something have no responsibility when the manufacturer is clearly involved in the production and sale.
Mundhe said that the Food Safety Act has already implemented some advertising regulations that address who the advertiser is, and responsibility is cast upon the individual who is advertising. He said that the person advertising the product is responsible for exercising due diligence about the thing they are endorsing.
Netizens supported Mundhe’s actions by saying that it is important to take such steps by not considering someone’s status as a celebrity among the audience. They said that the actors should understand their responsibility, and Mundhe’s actions are expected to bring a big change.
On the other hand, a particular section alleged that nothing is going to happen to the actors. They pointed out to numerous cases in the past where celebrities have managed to escape after being involved in the worst cases. They said that the same thing is going to happen here.
As of now, all three actors have maintained silence on the matter. Let’s wait and see what are the consequences they are going to face for their actions in the upcoming days.
