SRK’s Secret Relief Mission for 1500 Families?

The support will reach families in Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka, and Ferozepur, where floods destroyed homes and ruined farmland. Many residents were left with nothing and are still living under open skies, waiting for help to arrive.

In Amritsar, the foundation has pledged support for 500 homes near the Ravi river, working with the local NGO Voice of Amritsar (VOA). This initiative aims to provide essential items like beds, fans, stoves, mattresses, and water purifiers.

VOA has been active on the ground, distributing rations, clothes, medicines, and working with AIIMS doctors in Amritsar and Gurdaspur. This partnership is expected to help in the smooth execution of the project.

The Meer Foundation is widely respected for supporting acid attack survivors, and this move into disaster relief strengthens its impact. However, the situation again highlights how disaster response in India often depends on private charity.

Celebrity efforts like this bring visibility and immediate help, but long-term recovery depends on proper follow-up and strong state-led action. The Punjab project is both compassionate and practical but shows the need for systemic preparedness.
