Shahid Kapoor’s next film is reportedly a body swap comedy. He is teaming up with Amit Sharma, the director of the commercial hit Badhaai Ho, for this project and it is going to be an official remake of an Italian film called Moglie e marito. In that film, a husband and wife get their bodies swapped after some scientific experiment goes wrong.
However, this body swap idea is far from new in Bollywood. We have seen this before in the 2005 movie Mr Ya Miss which starred Antara Mali and Riteish Deshmukh and followed a similar theme of switching identities. However, it was a major box office flop and failed to impress the audience. Apart from that film, many movies came on that concept but none of them worked. Even Hollywood has done uncountable movies on the same idea.
The big question is whether Amit Sharma can bring something fresh to the table. He is great at handling family dramas, so maybe he can make this idea work. Also, Shahid Kapoor’s crowd pull has reduced significantly over the years.
Trade experts believe that Shahid was never a bankable star, none of his past movies except Kabir Singh has made huge profit. His last movie O Romeo flopped badly so it seems like audience isn’t interested in seeing him anymore. Even with his next movie, Cocktail 2, the audience seems more excited about Kriti Sanon’s hot avatar than him. Shahid needs to be more careful with the films he chooses if he wants to keep his career going.
