Rs 40 Cr for Farzi S2: Trolls Can’t Stop Laughing

Shahid Kapoor’s journey shows contrast, modest box office performance but strong success on digital platforms. His show Farzi became hugely popular on OTT, and now he is set for Season 2, reportedly with a record fee of Rs 40 crore as per Times of India. Trollers mocked that he rarely makes a Rs 10 crore opening in theatres yet expects much higher OTT pay.

He first rose to fame after Kabir Singh by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, which cemented his alpha male image with the masses. While that role won him many fans, later films did not resonate as strongly.

His theatrical choices like Jersey, Deva and Bloody Daddy failed to leave a mark. Even Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which did average business, saw much of the credit go to Kriti Sanon’s performance.

If we see it all together, it seems Shahid is losing star pull in cinemas. In contrast, his OTT appeal is rising. Farzi’s success has given him leverage to demand big money for Season 2, despite weaker theatrical returns. As m9.news reported earlier, fans still hope to see him return stronger on the big screen.

This shift also reflects how OTT platforms are reshaping stardom in India, offering new opportunities for actors whose theatrical runs have slowed. For a broader analysis of this trend, check out How OTT Platforms Are Redefining Indian Cinema on m9.news
