Deva’s First Song Out: Superhit or Flop?

The song Bhasad Macha from Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde’s Deva is out, with high-energy visuals and choreography to match.

While Shahid’s dance and Pooja’s presence impress, the track itself feels like an average addition to Bollywood’s music scene.

The song is composed by Vishal Mishra, with vocals by Mika Singh and Jyotica Tangri. The lyrics are written by Raj Shekhar.

Bosco Leslie Martis has choreographed the video, which is full of vibrancy due to the wedding setting and Shahid’s cop avatar.

Though Shahid has given good performances, some feel the music is not up to the mark. Repetitive beats and a very common structure do not make it last in the audience’s minds for long.

Though it might be a short-term hit due to the energetic moves by Shahid and Pooja’s graceful screen presence, the average composition of the song will limit it in the long run. It relies more on visuals than on a good melody.

Shahid fans, however, feel that it is another all-time chartbuster like Dhan Te Nan from Kaminey.

Bhasad Macha is a treat for the eyes but a letdown for the ears. Whether it fuels the hype that will accompany Deva when it comes out on January 31, 2025, remains to be seen.
