Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par has finally arrived in theatres after being delayed multiple times for different reasons. The sports comedy-drama has been directed by RS Prasanna, and the first-day occupancy has been decent so far.
Aamir opted for a different release strategy this time by not having morning shows on the first day, and this has possibly helped the film to get a better response from the audience. Notably, the first day numbers are expected to be between Rs. 9.50 crores to Rs. 10.50 crores.
PVRInox and Cinepolis are reportedly aiming to accumulate around Rs. 6.75 crores, leading to a contribution of almost 65% to the overall collection. Although the response is a little bit better compared to Laal Singh Chaddha, the film still needs a big jump of 80%.
While the response to the film has not been highly positive, audiences have been recommended to watch it as it has a different kind of content, and the makers have not repeated the usual genres of action and horror-comedy.
The film is expected to record a better number on Saturday since 40,000 tickets have been sold so far at PVRInox by the evening hours of Friday, which is 70% higher compared to Thursday, where the total number of tickets booked was 38,000. Cinepolis has also sold around 10,000 tickets for the Saturday shows.
In case the reactions become more positive by Saturday, the film will get a big boost on Sunday, helping it to become a hit at the end of its theatrical run.
But the film has to become a big blockbuster, considering the stardom of Aamir Khan. The superstar can easily achieve this if the film maintains a strong hold on the weekdays with an occupancy between 60-70% throughout India. Let’s wait and see if things happen as per expectations.
