Sitaare Zameen Par Early Reviews: Classic or LSC?

With promotions for Sitaare Zameen Par in full swing, early reviews are pouring in—and they’re glowing.

Aamir Khan, along with director R. Prasanna, recently hosted a special pre-release screening for the Jai Vakeel Foundation (JVF)—India’s oldest and largest non-profit organization for the intellectually disabled—and their response to the film was nothing short of overwhelming.

In an official statement post-screening, the JVF team praised the film’s honest and authentic portrayal of neurodiversity, particularly intellectual disability.

They praised Aamir and the crew for handling such a sensitive and frequently overlooked issue with nuance on the big screen.

The film left viewers filled with a “quiet hope,” as they described the experience as an emotional rollercoaster.

According to the makers, the film aims to convey a socially relevant message coming off as preachy, attempting to strike a balance between humor and heart.

Sitaare Zameen Par is a remake of the Spanish film “Champions”, which revolves around a basketball coach mentoring a group of neurodivergent teens.

That said, some internet users have pointed out how the film appears to have recreated many of the same frames as the original, sparking skepticism about the film’s originality.

Despite the hype, some people are worried that it could possibly end up like Laal Singh Chaddha, which also inspired by an original eventually fell short of expectations.

The pressure keeps rising, given that it will also be compared to Taare Zameen Par, a film that left an emotional imprint on almost every viewer, leaving this sequel with big shoes to fill in.

However, with such positive initial responses, Sitaare Zameen Par may just find its own place among the stars.
