No Vulgarity, No Item Song: Still Worth Watching?

Aamir Khan’s highly anticipated film, Sitaare Zameen Par, finally hit the theaters and is generating a buzz for reasons beyond just box office numbers.

While the film’s opening day collection was modest and most shows weren’t housefull, theaters saw families, children, and people from various backgrounds and age groups coming together to enjoy a Bollywood film after ages.

Social media users noted that this has been a rare sight in recent years, as most Bollywood’s releases these days are tailored with mature themes for adult audiences.

Bollywood has long struggled to produce content that genuinely appeals to young children, leaving a large chunk of the population unable to enjoy cinema on the big screen.

Surprisingly, Sitaare Zameen Par managed to bridge that gap and offered a wholesome experience to kids, adults, and even aged people.

Although the film wasn’t completely clean and did include a few scenes that some viewers found uncomfortable, the film’s overall tone and narrative turned it into a family entertainer.

Most of Bollywood’s recent releases are considered incomplete without oversexualized item songs and masala themes that producers believe are necessary to pull the audience.

Sitaare Zameen Par managed to prove it wrong with its inclusive storytelling, breaking barriers and reuniting a diverse audience back at the cinema halls.

If filmmakers want to take anything away from this incident, it’s that honest effort sells without having to be wrapped in glamour or sexual innuendos.
