SRK & Ranbir Still Bigger Than Allu Arjun?

Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun in the lead, broke all opening weekend records, collecting four days of ₹265 crore and surpassing Jawan’s ₹250 crore.

The big popularity of the original Pushpa film created a huge fan base, primarily after its satellite broadcast.

The paid attention base of their predecessors will allow sequels like Pushpa 2 and KGF 2 to dominate the top box office weekends. Sanju, Jawan, and Pathaan, however, do indicate that standalone films with great protagonists can influence the box office too.

Sequels are better openers thanks to their default brand. Pathaan and such isolated hits exemplify a degree of innovation that can only bank on the star as well as great content more as an attractor tool.

The success of Pushpa 2 indicates how sequels build up from the momentum already built. But steady box office success from SRK and Ranbir, in particular in non-sequels, shows that they can attract viewers irrespective of the support of a well-established franchise.

Even if Pushpa 2 becomes a huge success, it does show the dominance of SRK and Ranbir over Bollywood by their capacity to make humongous successes without depending on a franchise. They still carry much more star power than Allu Arjun.
