Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death: Bigg Boss Stunt?

In Bollywood’s competitive world, merit is always secondary to controversies, and reality shows are simply a soap opera. The latest tempest is that actress Ankita Lokhande used her relationship with deceased Sushant Singh Rajput to earn sympathy votes on Bigg Boss.

Model Rozlyn Khan, who made headlines for expressing her blunt views, blasted Ankita for supposedly leaping on Sushant’s death to maintain her limelight on the show.

This incandescent allegation has once again sparked controversy regarding the propriety of using one’s own tragedy for an off-stage display of public drama.

Apart from fanning the fire more, Rozlyn fermented outrage against actress Hina Khan by accusing her of gaining publicity at the cost of her fight against cancer.

A remark like this necessitated a tongue-in-cheek rejection, which prompted Ankita to come passionately to Hina’s defense as a brave fighter against life-threatening disease.

In its essence, the controversy poses challenging questions, in which one is able to distinguish the line of distinction between private suffering borne and public persona.

Celebrity life is so cruel that it has the tendency to smear such lines generally, thus the constant battle between private suffering and public way of life sought after by celebrities.

Yet even as such debates get debated, it becomes painfully obvious that fame has a heavy price.

Is sharing pain a way to remain relevant, or are we, that is, the audience, complicit in sweetening the deal by turning tragedy into entertainment? The answer remains almost as complicated as the industry itself.
