Romance or Father-Daughter Vibes? Zero Chemistry?

Romantic dramas no longer dominate the Bollywood landscape, with thrillers and biopics now drawing more attention.

Yet, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, releasing on July 11, attempts to revive the classic love story format complete with soulful melodies and visually rich storytelling.

The pairing of Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor has generated interest, but the chemistry appears underwhelming so far.

Vikrant Massey, though a capable actor known for emotional depth, increasingly exudes a mature, grounded energy that doesn’t quite align with the youthful romantic leads of traditional Bollywood.

In contrast, Shanaya’s relatively fresh presence doesn’t seem to balance that equation effectively.

Whether it’s the evident age gap or a lack of onscreen spark, the pairing doesn’t immediately compel.

Where the film does seem to shine is in its music. Vishal Mishra’s compositions, especially voiced by Jubin Nautiyal, have struck a chord with audiences.

The soundtrack’s emotional weight is undeniable, but there’s a genuine concern that it could end up being more memorable than the film itself.

Stylistically, the visuals promise a rain-drenched, dreamy aesthetic, though heavy reliance on stylization can sometimes slow the narrative’s pace.

Ultimately, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan may appeal to audiences who long for old-school romance and appreciate Vikrant Massey’s understated performances.

But it remains to be seen whether it offers anything fresh or simply leans on nostalgia.

The film’s success will likely hinge on whether it can strike a balance between emotional depth and romantic believability, or fall short in execution despite its musical strengths.
