Most Controversial Potential Hit: Shocking Change?

Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film is grabbing a lot of attention on social media as the director has now changed the name to The Bengal Files. The film was initially titled The Delhi Files, and Vivek himself shared an announcement video through his social media a few months ago.

Although Vivek did not disclose the reasons behind the title change, it reportedly happened due to public demand. While detailed information on the film’s plot remains unknown for now, The Bengal Files will focus on the communal violence that happened during the 1940s in undivided Bengal.

The film is additionally supposed to focus on events like Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots.

Vivek addressed the title change in an interview, saying that the film will focus only on Bengal and the initial intention was to make two films, with the first being The Delhi Files, followed by another about Bengal.

The Bengal Files will mark Vivek’s return to direction after a gap of around two years. Notably, Vivek has claimed that he has no fear of speaking the truth, despite that he is well aware of the fact that The Bengal Files is expected to create some controversy.

Vivek’s last film was The Vaccine War, which failed to repeat the success of The Kashmir Files, another film by Vivek.

The Kashmir Files collected more than Rs. 300 crores at the box office, and the shows were also increased at one point despite that it clashed with Radhe Shyam, featuring Prabhas, on the same day.

It remains to be seen if the promotional material of The Bengal Files or the film itself will create controversies for certain reasons, contributing to its success. In case Vivek has added hard-hitting sequences like he did for The Kashmir Files, The Bengal Files might emerge as a bigger hit this time.

The film was originally supposed to arrive on August 15 this year and has been postponed to September 5, possibly to avoid competition with War 2.

Let’s see if the film’s release on a non-holiday will help it create some better records at the box office.
