Why War 2 Flopped So Badly? Trade Experts Analyse

War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has turned out to be a massive disappointment at the box office. Trade experts have now revealed why the big-budget action entertainer failed to create magic and crashed after the first weekend.

The first War in 2019 had set new benchmarks for action films, but War 2, despite a bigger star cast and budget, fell flat. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the film showed weak signs from the beginning as advance bookings lacked enthusiasm. Even with Independence Day and Janmashtami holidays, the film could not gain momentum.

Atul Mohan pointed out how the teaser, trailer, and songs failed to generate excitement. While War had chartbuster songs, War 2 failed to deliver in music. Exhibitor Akshaye Rathi agreed that the trailer failed to make a strong impression, which affected the buzz. Taran Adarsh even called War 2 the weakest film in the YRF Spy Universe.

Though Independence Day helped with a slight boost, negative word of mouth spread fast. Analysts also believe the Thursday release was a mistake. Mohan and Girish Johari said a direct August 15 release would have improved numbers. SSR Cinemas CEO Satyadeep Saha added that the second half felt stretched and lacked engaging action.

Despite the huge setback, YRF is now focusing on its upcoming project Alpha. Whether it will restore faith in the Spy Universe remains to be seen.
