Dark Comedy Gamble: Big Risk for Akshay Kumar?

Director Ahmed Khan recently said that Welcome To The Jungle is a dark comedy with four to five songs and big action scenes. This Akshay Kumar entertainer will release on June 26, and it is the third part of the Welcome series.

Film experts feel that while dark comedy works well on OTT platforms, families or adult audience in smaller cities still want clean comedy. Most dark comedies fail badly at the box office, which shows that regular moviegoers do not enjoy them. Pulling off this type of humor needs a very smart script, but since Farhad Samji wrote this movie, people shouldn’t expect much in terms of clever jokes.

Another big problem is how the movie will give enough screen time to its huge cast with so many songs. It looks like the script is weak, so they are just adding dance numbers to fill the time. Akshay Kumar fans are upset because Ahmed Khan is not considered a good director, and Farhad Samji has been writing flops for a long time.

The first Welcome movie in 2007 was simple, with subtle romance and funny situations. This new installment is taking a totally different path and looks like a chaotic “Housefull” brand of comedy. If this film fails to make people laugh, Akshay Kumar might lose the credibility he just won back with the success of Bhooth Bangla.
